The drive back offers a final opportunity to reflect on the day’s diverse experiences and the remarkable natural beauty of the Sinai Peninsula, from its colorful canyons to its azure waters.
There are two main ways to get to the Colored Canyon, also known as Colored Canyon Salama, in Egypt:
- By Jeep Safari Tour:This is the most popular way to visit the Colored Canyon, as it's located in the desert and not easily accessible by public transportation. Jeep safari tours typically pick you up from your hotel in Sharm el Sheikh and take you on a scenic journey through the Sinai Peninsula. The drive takes about two hours, with a stop for a panoramic view of the desert along the way. Once you arrive at the Colored Canyon, you'll have time to hike through the canyon and admire the colorful rock formations. Some tours may also include lunch, snorkeling in Dahab, and free time to explore the shops and bazaars in Dahab.
-By Private Car: If you're comfortable driving in Egypt, you can also rent a car and drive to the Colored Canyon yourself. The drive from Sharm el Sheikh takes about two and a half hours. However, it's important to be aware of the road conditions, as they can be rough and sandy in some areas. You'll also need to have a good sense of direction, as there aren't many signs along the way. Once you arrive at the Colored Canyon, there is a parking lot where you can leave your car.
Great Canyon (Egypt): This is the more famous canyon within Egypt. It's known for its dramatic rock formations and isolation in the Sahara Desert.
